On May 26, Ambassador Yang Zigang met at the Chinese Embassy with Mr. Proeve, CEO of Bank of Suriname.

Ambassador Yang briefed Mr. Proeve on the major outcomes of economic and trade cooperation achieved during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s recent visit to Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile. He indicated that China will further strengthen the pragmatic cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries in various fields. Yang also expected the assistance from Mr. Proeve in promoting Sino-Suriname cooperation in the fields of agriculture, finance and human resources development. Both sides also exchanged views on how to make full use of the advantageous market, resources and geographic location of Suriname and make further progress in cooperation in certain areas.

Mr. Proeve commended Ambassador Yang for his efforts in enhancing comprehensive cooperation between Suriname and China, and expressed his willingness to actively support the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Economic and Commercial counsellor Ma Yingli and other officials attended the meeting.
