Chinese Embassy Holds Presentation on Chinese Education at CCS

The Chinese Embassy held a presentation on Chinese education on 13 April at Chinese Corner in Cultural Centre Suriname. Charge d'Affaire Shi Yuanqiang, Mr. Motmanm, Head of Bureau Education Information and Study Facilities of the Ministry of Education and Community Development of Suriname, Ms Augustuszon, Head of the library of CCS, and nearly one hundred Surinamese students and their parents attended the event.

Mr Yang Chuanhui, Head of the Political Section of the Chinese Embassy, and Mr. Li Guannan, Attache of the Embassy, gave thorough introduction on higher education in China, major Chinese universities, application of the Chinese government scholarships and guides for studying and living in China. Ms Beckles from the Ministry of Education of Suriname talked about how the Ministry cooperates with the Chinese side to implement the Chinese government scholarship project. Mr Motman shared his insights into adapting to the university life in China promptly, based on his own experience of 7-year study and work in China. The diplomats and officials also answered many questions from the enthusiastic audience.

The audience showed keen interest in higher education and studying in China. Many of them hoped that more events like this would be held at the Chinese Corner in CCS, to make more Surinamese people have a deeper understanding about Chinese culture and education.
