Xi Jinping Holds Telephone Talks at Request with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia

On September 20, 2019, President Xi Jinping held telephone talks at request with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

Xi Jinping pointed out, China-Saudi Arabia relations have enjoyed comprehensive and rapid development in recent years. The two countries are comprehensive strategic partners and important cooperation partners in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese side appreciates Saudi Arabia's adherence to the One China principle and its valuable support over issues concerning the Chinese side's core interests and major concerns. The Chinese side also firmly supports the Saudi Arabian side's efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, security and stability. The Chinese side views and develops its relations with Saudi Arabia from a strategic and long-term perspective, and is willing to maintain communication with the Saudi Arabian side to constantly inject new impetus into bilateral relations and the development of bilateral cooperation.

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said, Saudi Arabia-China relations are solid and sound. The Saudi Arabian side firmly adheres to the One China policy, and will continue to give China firm support on issues concerning the Chinese side's core interests. It is hoped that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries will be further developed.

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud briefed on relevant situation of the recent attacks on Saudi oil facilities. Xi Jinping emphasized, the Chinese side condemned the attacks on Saudi oil facilities, and the incident has had an impact on the situation in the Gulf region and on the international energy market. Xi Jinping hoped for a comprehensive, objective and just investigation into the incident and called on relevant parties to refrain from taking any actions that may escalate tensions in the region so as to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
