Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of Poland Meets with Wang Yi

On July 8, 2019 local time, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of Poland met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Warsaw.

Wang Yi conveyed Premier Li Keqiang's warm greetings to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Wang Yi said, this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Poland, and bilateral relations stand at a new starting point to inherit the past and usher in the future. The purpose of my visit here is to review and sum up the 70-year journey with my Polish colleagues and make plans for the development of bilateral relations in the next step. China and Poland enjoy traditional friendship and are both important emerging economies. We need to further build cooperation consensus, tap into the potential of cooperation, keep pace with the times, inject new impetus into the relations between China and Poland, add new connotations and open up new prospects.

Wang Yi pointed out, China has huge market space and is continuously expanding its mutually beneficial and win-win opening up. The Polish side is welcome to share China's development opportunities. The Chinese side is willing to import more high-quality Polish products, promote balanced development of bilateral trade by expanding trade scale and making a bigger cake of common interests, and jointly oppose protectionism and unilateralism. The Chinese side encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Poland and promote cooperation on major projects that are of driving significance. We also hope that the Polish government will create a just, fair and transparent business environment for enterprises of all countries, including China. The Chinese side is optimistic about Poland's development prospects, regards Poland as an important cooperation partner in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to strengthen cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries with the Polish side. Poland is a representative of the European Union (EU)'s emerging powers. It is hoped that Poland will play a constructive role in China-EU relations.

Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere regards to Premier Li Keqiang. He said, the Polish side is willing to continue to treat each other equally, deepen mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Chinese side. The Polish side welcomes the Chinese side's expansion of trade and investment in Poland and will treat enterprises of all countries equally in the principles of transparency and openness and firmly oppose protectionism and unilateralism. The Polish side is willing to work with the Chinese side to draw up a road map for medium-and long-term cooperation to show the bright prospect of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Poland and China.
