| Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Remarks on Danish Political Figures Meeting with Dalai |
| 2009-05-31 |
Q: It's reported that Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen and Foreign Minister Moller met with Dalai in Copenhagen on the afternoon of May 29, local time. How do you comment? A: The Tibet issue is purely China's internal affair. China resolutely opposes Dalai's engagement in separatist activities overseas in whatever capacity, and foreign leaders' contact with him in whatever form. In disregard of China's repeated solemn representations, Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen and Foreign Minister Moller were bent on meeting with Dalai, who went there to engage in separatist activities. This has severely undermined China's core interest and China-Denmark relations, and ruined the atmosphere for bilateral friendly cooperation. China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and protest. China urges the Danish side to earnestly respect China's solemn position and concern, adhere to the One-China policy and take concrete actions to correct its erroneous practice on the Tibet-related issue so as to eliminate the negative impact and contribute to the sound and stable development of China-Denmark relations. |
