On March 9, the Chinese Embassy in Suriname donated to the KKF 100 parcels of rice, flour, cooking oil, canned sardine and beans, sugar, salt and other food to help the Surinamese in the interior to overcome the difficulties caused by flood. The disaster-relief materials, with a total value of 100,000 SRD, were handed over by Ms. Xiaoyan Jiang, Deputy Chief of Mission, Political Counsellor, representing the Embassy, to Mr. Jayant Padarath, President of the KKF.
Jiang told the press that the Chinese people stand by their Surinamese brothers and sisters in times of difficulties. As a genuine friend in need to Suriname, China always stands ready to extend a helping hand. China believes that with the assistance from all sectors of the society and the international community, people in Suriname will win the battle against the disaster and rebuild their homeland.
The donated materials will be transported to the NCCR Friday so as to be delivered to the flood-affected area asap.
