4:30 a.m. of April 20 Suriname time (15:30 April 20 Beijing time), cargo liner “Sea Leo” belonging to Caribbean International Shipping Company (CIS) departed from Tianjin Lingang Port of China to Suriname. This is the second direct cargo ship from China after the arrival of “Capricorn” on March 13, the first cargo ship of the direct shipping pilot program between China and Suriname. “Sea Leo”will unload its cargo via Guyana and is expected to arrive in Suriname in 43 days.

The pilot program of the China-Suriname direct shipping will further promote the solution of the long-standing problems of cumbersome transit, long transportation cycle and high comprehensive cost, which have restricted the trade between the two countries.
